How do you check the slack in your chain to know when and how much to adjust it? What # chain does a Silver Star classic use 525? 520? Where do you get replacement or different # sprockets like a 16T front sprocket.

How do you check the slack in your chain to know when and how much to adjust it? Mount the bike off the center stand and reach down and push the upper chain gaiter down in the middle of it. The chain should go down about 1/2".

What # chain does a Silver Star classic use 525? 520? 520 chain, 102 links

Where do you get replacement or different # sprockets like a 16T front sprocket? 17T is stock for the engine sprocket; for me the gearing was too tall. I swapped in a 16T to lower the final drive ratio a bit for better traffic manners. Get them here:
