I have been getting used to riding my 2001 Skorpion tour, and one thing I am finding is that when switching to 2nd gear, if I have not gained enough speed, the engine chugs, and the bike bucks like a rodeo bull

I don't think it's because I'm not going fast enough because on the motorcycle safety course I did one could go very slow in 2nd and use it for general slow maneuvering; much smoother than 1st.
Anybody any ideas? Is it just the carbs, or could it be the gears and if so, is it difficult/expensive to fix.
Thx all.
