hiccups at high speed

Postby gemestee » Wed Feb 02, 2005 8:51 pm

I just took my 01 Panther out on the open road and got it at the top of 5th and it started hiccuping at about 70-75, and continued as long as I was up there, about every 3-4 seconds, like a hesitation. It almost sounded like it was misfiring... does anyone know what this might be? I went through a few tanks of gas, so it wasn't bad gas. I have a Vampire exhaust and Twinair filter, but otherwise stock. Anybody else have these issues, or any ideas? :?

Battery fully charged? Sounds funny, but it can and will make wierd
stuff happen....rule out the simple problems first. I had a 90 hawk gt
and it would run wierd, hesitant/misfiring riding with a large crosswind, turned out to be a vent hose...wierd shit.

my .02 cents may not have helped here, but replys fun to get on a slow board.... ;-)

rule these out, gas or fire, its got to be one of those things....

hiccup at high speed

Mine does so on occassion as well...feels weird. My guess is that it's the clutch grabbing a bit, since mine only seems to do it when I'm running hard and fast.

Battery may be low... it was out when I got it from the previous owner a few weeks back... I'll check that first. I was thinking it could be the fuel filter too- like it could take flow at normal RPMs, but couldn't quite handle the full open throttle flow needed.

who knows- not that often I'll have it sitting up there at 75, so maybe I'll just live with it... :smt080
