Help frame wanted MZ 125 SM or Red Nec straightening ideas

Postby mace247 » Sat Feb 18, 2012 6:26 am

Hi,

I'm new to this site and wondered if any one can help. I'm looking for a unbent frame for a MZ 125 SM ( or sx ) I'm in the uk and wondered if anyone was breaking one? Alternatively does anyone know of a good frame straightening company in Wales UK. Thanks, any help any of you could give is very much appriciated.

Also on a side note does anyone have any interesting methods of DIY frame straightening lol Using the " Red Neck method " obviously! I have access to various large machinery: Tractors, welders, blow torches, Very LARGE hammers! Do not be gentle with me! Think outside the box, Think of it as an exercise in in Mad Max mechanic's. lol

I'd love to hear what you all come up with

Hi mace, have a look at http://www.ehow.com/how_12058603_diy-fr ... cycle.html.
The tool list is impressive, and falls perfectly into the category you are asking for...! Do let us know if you succeed and if it drives in a straight line...

One sheet 3/4-inch plywood
Duct tape
1 1/2-inch radius half-round steel pipe
Hacksaw
1 1/2-inch pipe brackets
1 1/4-inch wood screws
Power drill with screw tip attachment
Steel mallet

There are specialist engineering shops who have the jig to do the job, just Google for your area, I would not expect a simple straightening job to be to expensive and is the best way to go concerning your safety.
Also Here is a method of checking frame twist by comparing the alignment of your your wheels, rear to front. You might be able to use this to check your light hammer touch afterwards....... http://www.framestraightsystem.com/Moto ... 0Check.htm
