First bike first MZ

Postby Exro » Fri Mar 02, 2012 4:10 pm

Hello everyone!

Recently passed my CBT and looking at a MZ ETZ 125 as my first bike, it's a 1988 model and has been sat for a while.

Just wanted to know some information on the bike, common faults and issues etc. ANY help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

radiograf:

First off good to see you are excited about your new bike. A couple of things to keep in mind, this is a 24 yr old motorcycle and you will want to pay attention to all the rubber parts, fuel lines, tires, carb boots all need to be servicable. Check the usual, chain & sprockets, air filter, cables, etc. Like anything mechanical, a little attention goes a long way.

Enjoy,

my rule 1 is do not flog the crap out of it
a 125cc bike is just a moped with a bigger motor
do not expect more than it can give

all running it hard does is make it break sooner and use more gas
and spare parts
