beware of the sprocket bolts

Postby m4panther » Thu Feb 17, 2005 1:47 am

FYI if any of you guys have a baggy with the alen head bolts.....think about replacing them. I sheard mine off and tore apart the cush drive. The new bikes are produced with heavy duty bolts.

Wow, thats bad. I have never seen that on a bike before. I have had a bolt come loose and cause minor damage to teh swinging arm, but never this. I have also had a cush drive case (the one that broke on your bike) crack around one of the mounts. Probablly teh result of useing an air impact gun to undo tighten the bolts. Definatly one to watch.

that happened to a guy here in seattle, and MZ warrantied it for him. I think they did a wheel, swingarm, and chain at no charge!

I converted mine to bolts when they worked loose at 2,000 miles. the carrier is available at yamaha for around $100.00. fits latest XT600EE.

the problew is our version motor has way wore grunt than the XT600. I put 40,000 miles on my XT and never had a sprocket issue.

I'm having a huge problem getting compensated for it. You know they made a design change. They know this is a problem. Could you private message me his vin number? I have been in contact with the VP and personally spoke with him at the international motorcycle show NYC. Did your friend crash?

I look at that picture and I see yet another good reason to adapt Skorpion mags to the Baghira....

I have an r6 wheel I was thinking about milling down, but I don't want to waste a good wheel on a crazy idea
