New MZ Owner Here!!! Very Excited!!

Postby Meeners » Wed May 02, 2012 3:26 am

Well, after doing a bunch of research on a new bike... I've come to the conclusion that I wanted to try an enduro / street moto. I used to own an FZR 600 and a Kawi ZX7R, and planned on purchasing an Aprlia Mille, but conveniently it was bought out from under me. Probably for the better, because I would have cried if I ever had to replace anything on it.... I almost bought a Buell S1 or X1... but didn't want to deal with the whole company dying out and non support from Harley. I've always been a guy that likes to ride bikes that I don't see every day. So yeah, no trendy GSxR's, CBR's, or Newer R6's for me... I was also done with the "have to rev the piss out of me" in line 4 syndrome because all it did was get me in trouble. I knew I wanted either a twin bike, or a big thumper. I love KTM, but a little pricey on their LC4 and 8 bikes... Wanted a WR, but there are too many around... SV1k's are great, but too trendy. What to do... Wait... what is this? MZ?

The bike has landed... and I'm taking it to work tomorrow... OMG it is so FREAKING torquey!!!!!!!! I am stoked!!!!! I brought this thing home tonight and I CAN'T SLEEP! I keep going outside to look at all the cool things this bike has.

It's a 2003 that needs a couple things, but I had to pick it up... Bought from an older gentlemen and it's all stock aside from the can, the bars, grips, and bar end mirrors. I already read the thread about the front and rear brake switches... I'm currently looking for a wide seat for it, and how to move the headlight to the forks. I'm also looking for some fork boots!!!! I've already fallen in love. This thing is so different from everything else and I'm happy I can start saving gas again!!!! Let's gooOOOOOO!

Oh yeah... I have to look into why the turn signals don't work... The rear two were removed and wires tucked. Going to have to use hand signals this week!

Thanks! I definitely am taking heed to that first statement. I knew it would be torquey from the get, but damn!

Nobody is riding this beast, they will loop this thing in first.

I need to get some 80/20 dual sport tires so I can play in the grass a little.

Wow, very nice.

I bought my 2001 MZ in Sept 2007 with maybe 2500 km on it, and now it has about 40,600 km.

Merry Christmas to me...

Got myself an M4 Exhaust... I'm waiting to cut it down a little bit before I throw it on the bike.
Image

And I bought a stock exhaust just for kicks... Put it on yesterday and holy crap.... it's uber quiet... almost too quiet. I can't hear what gear i'm in at highway speeds!
Image

Coolest thing is it's all stainless... it's a big heavy though! The rear section from the brake lever back is 26lbs!!!! I'm going to rock it for a while.
Image

Here's the Yami GYTR Exhaust that was one it previously... LOUD. I need to get it rewelded because it's leaking and pack it again. I'll take a pic of the M4 once I get it on. It's larger than this one.
