Got a problem already

Postby chadz » Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:35 pm

A few hours ago i rode my bike home from misses house and as i came to a junction the bike just went off like it was low on fuel, i started it back up thinking i was low on fuel and put 13quid in tank.

Off i go again and again just came to a stop at side of the rode and it made the boging noise from air filter as it just died, i take it easy all the way home below 6rpm and came to a huge hill, i went down the hill still at 40mph and 6rpm and it back fired about 3 times ???? any advice fellas?

Got this bike for reliablity and problems already :(

carry a long screwdriver Phillips type
if you lean the bike on its right side on a wall or pole ..
bottom left side of Carb, bowl there is a drain screw
open it and watch for fuel out of a tube on bottom of Carb right side
this will usually get out the crud
bike needs to lean a bit toward the right to put the drain hole in correct place
and this also makes it easier to see the drain screw..
till i started using Ethanol Free fuel.. this was an every tank full event
i use also stabil for Ethanol fuel

this bike uses a small amount of fuel it just does not like crud in its fuel
also when parked cover tank fill cap with a rain cover
i ordered new tank cap rubber seals they now have a turned down lip hope it helps

it a good little bike you just have to get used to the things to do list so it does not get sick
drain the carb is one of them
and watch the rear brake pads some people have a problem with big boots making them ride the rear pedal
and ware them down
this also make the brake lamp stay on which may get you rear ended

This forum should be called davids help lol

Yeh I seen the screw on the carb but it was to tight so I stripped it to get my socket on it.

Does your tank vibrate a lot?

some one may have had it off and not got it back on proper..
or the rubber mounts under the front are going bad from age
remove it and check all the mounts ...
while its off drain and filter all the gas in it and
new petcock (gas tap) rubber seal may be needed
vitron is a brand name for a type of seal that stands up to the ethanol

tank is rubber mounted and should move some but not a lot
some times it is a bit hard to get back on ..other times it just fits up nice.

Tip for fitting the tank over the rubber mounts, use KY jelly (or other personal lubricant of your choice!). Seriously, as its water based it won't attack the rubber. Its also usefull for fitting tyres.

this relay controls everything
my camera is not working today

stand on left side of bike
at rear of gas tank behind the side cover at front corner of battery
mounted to a lug on the frame may have to remove seat and side cover to see it
is the relay
jumper the red/black wire to the red/white wire
this is to see if the side stand switch and or the relay is the problem

test wire can be 2 male spade lugs on each end of a 6inch piece of wire
this little item should be made and in tool kit at all times
and used to get you running when it all fowls up
but not used all the time
because it bypasses the kill button and side stand switch
and may make the neutral light work funny

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2085&hilit=relayrelay

this relay is on the 660 bikes as relay 30

PS we seem to be working on all the little things that go wrong with this bike...
mostly because the guy before you did not know how to fix them....
HANG IN THERE once you get the bugs sorted out ITS A NICE RIDE

and a relay to replace the old one can be found at a good auto supply store if its the problem.

a louder exhaust system??

think not
every thing i tried to make mine go faster just made it use MORE GASOLINE
and there are so few of them that not many after market pipes were made

the factory has this thing tuned to the point that an after market pipe may make a bit more noise
but will destroy the get up and go of the bike
remember my rule 125 cc bikes are a moped just one of the bigger ones any thing under 350cc is still a moped
the bicycle peddles were just not installed

Try a WIX 33067 from a auto spares company
its big an if properly located works as a sediment bowl
and can be taken off and puffed clean with a bit of compressed air
a small puff of air will blow the water and crud right out of them
but do not puff to hard or they will blow up
i use them so often on things that i keep a couple in stock in the spares BOX
