TS125 Gearbox oil change question

Postby ts125drummer » Sat Sep 08, 2012 5:25 pm

Heya,

Complete newbie to bikes, i need to do an oil change and there appears to be 2 bolts on the bottom of the gearbox which one (or both) do i have to unscrew to drain the oil, the big one is very close to the frame an so can't get a socket over it.

Cheers

The oil drain plug is the one in the left hand crankcase half, the other is the gearbox detent and should not be removed

2. Ablaßschraube Getrieberaum (mit Magnet)

google translated to

1. First Drain plug primary drive
2. Second Drain plug gear compartment (with magnet)

Is number 2 in my picture the same as 13 in yours? If so, what's the other one for?

Not having a 125 engine with me at the moment I'm working from memory here, 1 and A1 are the same, 2 and 2A are the same. 1 is the one I arrowed in the pic. Thats the main drain from the gearbox. Now 2 is a screw that isn't always there! This is to drain the oil from the primary chain case. However the gearbox and primary chaincase are joined together so draining oil out the gearbox will drain the primary. If your engine has got a screw 2 feel free to remove it

So to modify my first picture

Superstar! Cheers. It's been bugging me for ages and i didn't fancy trashing the gearbox by getting it wrong! I've been looking at cheapo knackered ts's on ebay for a bike to strip and practice on
