Just bought a 500R

Hi all, I just became the owner of a rough 500R.

I'm in the process of fitting a single seat and a rack/luggage system on it for touring. Although I am familiar with the Rotax engine MZ is a new marque to me and am unfamiliar with the chassis and components, an example being how do you check oil level as there is no dipstick on the filler cap, is it just a visual thing??

Any link or help with service/mantenaince manuals will be much apprieciated.

is the filler in the frame just behind the steering head triple clamp
should be a stick on the cap

if yours looks like this it may have came off the plastic cap
and is down in the bottom of the frame tank

Thanks Dave, I guess it must have fallen off, time to go fishing in the oil.

At least now I have the measurements I can make a temporary dipstick.

a magnet on the end of an old broken tape measure may work
just needs to be small enough to go in the hole
or on a stiff piece of plastic end of a tie wrap ?

or it may have just "gone missing"
lots of bikes live a hard life
