Ts 250/1 Cafe racer / special ?

I've bought myself a new bike a Ts 250/1

it's been modified with Honda fuel tank seat and tail piece

plus an ETZ front end and expansion chamber

has anyone seen this bike before or know who built it ?

it runs ok and the expansion pipes not too noisy

I’m hoping to do some work over the weekend and get it back on the road in the spring

Should I keep it as it is or rebuild it with the original panels ?

IMO original is king every time!

That's rather nicely done (and I like original bikes) and probably worth keeping as it is.

It'll certainly be a talking point at meetings.

I vote for keeping it as it is. Its been really nicely done. And if you want to return it to original TS250/1 you will need
Tank, with chrome side panels
Airbox, battery carrier and side panel
Rear mudguard, rear light and indicators
Seat
Silencer and downpipe
Forks, front brake front wheel
Headlamp with built in switch, alloy instrument carrier "ears" front indicators, original switch gear and levers

And thats only after a cursory look

OR you could give it a good polish up, coat of exhaust paint on the silencer, bit of hammerite here and there and you will have a good looking bike that will get people talking!

The tank and sidepanels look like they are from a Honda CB250RS from the 1980's. Be intersesting to see the mods needed to make them fit.

Yes the tank, seat, side panels and headlamp (still fitted with 12v bulb) are from a Honda CB250RS not sure about the front mud guard

the builder has added the small push on fittings for the side panels and a few other brackets for the tank and seat

it hadn't run for some time but i it got it going and it runs ok, it doesn't have an air box just a foam filter, i'll sort that over the winter i think

it has an etz front end, the forks don't have a pinch bolt is this normal ?

Should be pinch bolts on the bottom yoke and one on the opposite fork leg to the brake

i had a close look at the front forks and found that the front end is made up of 2 right hand fork legs

anyone have a spare left hand leg ?





The remounted choke lever is a nice touch



I think the fairing is from a Yamaha you can see that the Honda headlight is not the best fit






it seems that it was well thought out when the builder started on it but was not finished the rest is a bit of a botched job

eg: the front forks

I think that with a little work this could turn out to be nice bike

Then i'll be able to ride it once i've passed my bike test

Ah I see what you mean about the forks! I'm sure someone will have a spare somewhere.

looks like you have one built out of extras from a very large spares bin in some ones shed
sort out the odd things and you have a good daily driver

from the look of the world wide economy there are going to be a lot of daily drivers made from a parts bin

yes money is tight but this will be a great bike when i get around to rebuilding it

then i'll have to get around to passing the new, new bike test

Unless it's an MZ, then original is ugly everytime.

It looks quite smart.
Although if I were you, I'd tidy up the exhaust (rub it down and spray it with XHT)
And a respray all round as that colour isn't too nice

And most importantly, ditch that fairing, that thing's a total botch job and ruins the whole thing.

This was my old bike. Cb250rs tank and panels, rg expansion pipe modified to fit, tzr or rg top fairing, can't remember which. Never ran properly with the exhaust on.
