Having established that my engine for the Trophy sport project does actually run - hoorahh! it's time to start thinking of how to mount a Supa 5 engine in an ETS frame. What I want to ideally is get a bracket welded to the top tube so that I can "hang" the engine from the top rubber mount, normal TS style. What I don't understand is how the bracket should be fixed. From what I have seen there is a bolt from the frame that the bracket goes on to but that's as much as I know. Does just half of the bracket bolt onto the frame stud as i can't see how you can get a nut onto the stud once the two halves of the bracket are fixed to the head. I'm guessing this isn't making a great deal of sense but I'm sure someone who has put a TS engine back in the frame will know what I'm talking about!
Help very much appreciated chaps!

The first problem I see is that the engine is gonna bounce up and down, like it does in a TS and try to beat the hell out of the bottom loop of your frame

I always used to tighten the rubber mount in place then lever it onto the cylinder head

Mmm - it's a little more tricky than imagined. I've found a blog of a guy who put a TS engine in a Trophy frame and with the studs on the the head for the hanger you can't get the head off with the engine in the frame. Which would be a pain in the arse. He has got some brackets made for the front of the motor that fix onto the front crankcase bolt and the downtube. That looks the way to go I reckon. I'm taking it over to my clever welding friend in the week and we are going to have a look. I'll get some pics on when I have chance.

Look forward to seeing them. I remember someone machining 4 speed crankcases to take the 5 speed cluster. Wish I had the equipment and expertise to do it! I know the factory did it with the ETS/G and for the Eskort

I have neither expertise or experience - but I know a man who has!

I have got the bike back from Ken my welding friend and he has put some brackets onto the downtube so the front has a mounting point. It's a really neat job, the only possible problem is that as the engine will be soild mounted now it may vibrate a bit. Still - I have had brit bikes in the past and 600 rotax singles so I'm used to a bit of vibes. It was too dark tonight to take any decent pics but here's one of the bike as it was a little while ago.
