Hi all, recently acquired (through the kindness of a friend) a 96 reg Skorpion Sport and this seems to be the place to be
Looking forward to getting back on the road after a kind of break from bikes, last was K100RT 15yrs ago or so. Skorp reminds me of the XBR I had in late 80's, lovely big single and all the Brit stuff I owned in the 60's onwards. Needless to say it has it's problems hence my joining.
It's complete and runs great after carb fettling but oh dear it's had amateur electricians at it and the dreaded green fungus in the loom
I've managed to find various wiring diagrams but mostly US spec which seem to vary? the only uk one I found is pretty fuzzy and not in colour. Having said that it has a kmh clock with mph stick on tags so may not be uk spec either? the vrd doesn't suggest it was imported other than at new though. Could anyone point me at a good one with clear colour coding?
The problems include a butchered instrument light loom, various cables cut and half removed etc. neutral light switch lead in the main loom seems to be replaced with a different colour and although I've found one back current diode (green furry and shorting) internally in the loom the second one is hiding? Only problem is I found a badly joined lead near the diode I have found and I wonder if the second has been cut out........ Has anyone experience of replacing these and if so what spec are they? any clues as to the location of the second would be great too. I don't think it is terminal as all electrics work with the exception of the instrument panel & rev counter. Have read loads on the "reliabilty" of the tacho's but will address that once the main wiring is sorted. A replacement loom would be lovely of course but I daren't ask for a price, was quoted £192 for a tacho, don't think I'll bother
Any advice or comments would be much appreciated, it will ride again if I have to completely rewire it! Thanks , Windmill.
