Neutral switch

Postby marsh15086 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:45 am

on my mz ts 125 sport i have discovered a wire coming from the chain area. i have found out that it is the neutral switch wire but as my bike has not clocks as the previous owner has stripped it right back what is the best thing to do with this wire. once i have had this bike started i will be stripping it down to respray it and eventually return it to road condition but does this affect the engine starting on the bike. Many Thanks Allan

Only if you have it in gear, just nip it off for now - actually you may be able to disconnect the wire

Don't worry about it. All it does is provide a route to earth for the light when it's in neutral, so it doesn't even matter if it's touching anything. Depending on whether your bike is a Luxus or Alpine model, it may well never have had a neutral light anyway - the switch and wire were fitted anyway.
