ETZ251 much more fun than FJ1200

Postby Emzedder » Tue Apr 30, 2013 5:15 pm

Hi to fellow MZ stroker riders. I have previously owned a TS150, a TS250 Supa 5 and an ETZ150. I've just bought a 1989 ETZ251 with just 1300 miles behind it. This bike was sold at Bonhams (Classic Bike Auction) in 2010 with 276 miles and one owner. I sold my FJ in the morning and got the MZ in the afternoon. It was just 7 miles from home. It is great to be back on an MZ. I had the ETZ150 about 5 years ago and really liked it. The 251 has just that bit more power which I appreciate, but the 150 was lovely and revvy. It doesn't really pull below 3000rpm (the 251) and it pulls gently until 4000rpm when it gets a move on, running out of puff at 5500. It doesn't always pull away from rest cleanly, especially when not fully warmed up. It bogs. Maybe the plug needs changing. I'll check tomorrow. I've read on here that the ETZ250 was a better bike. In what way was it better?
