New Member With An ETZ250 Basket Case

Hi everyone. My name is Mike and I live in Staines, Middlesex, England near Heathrow airport. I have recently collected the remains of my brothers bikes that he had collected over many years and amongst them is 75% of a 1986 ETZ250 in poor condition. The plan was to palletise all the bikes and parts into basket cases and sell them on and while researching the bikes histories I have become quite attached to the MZ due to it's simplicity so I have decided to build a bike from what's there. I have two other bikes, a 1995 Triumph Speed Triple and my Fathers 1947 Nimbus, neither of which are currently roadworthy, the Triumph needs another starter clutch and the Nimbus has not been run since 1983!

This is all I have, the bike was a runner and developed a gearbox problem. Some of the missing alloy parts have probably been weighed in for scrap.

Looks like you've got your work cut out with that one! Probably best looking for a second hand engine for it, it will be cheaper than buying all new bearings and seals, getting crank rebuilt , gearbox internals, top end etc etc etc!

Got an FJ1200 in the back of the garage, but no matter how hard I look I can't find a Nimbus! Such an original bit of design, Ive always liked them, from seeing one on the IOM 30 something years ago

I'm planning on raiding my parts bins and fabricating a lot of parts for this bike, always fancied doing an alloy tank and seat unit and this is a perfect opportunity. Another engine would be useful but I'm quite happy to rebuild this one, it's just a shame some of it has been weighed in then the remains left to the weather as the crank now needs a new con-rod due to the small end being corroded.

There are two FJ1200's hiding in that pile, would you like to add them to your collection? Part exchange for an MZ or parts a possibility!

Now that is tempting! I'm sure there is an ETZ250 in my shed somewhere and it's a bit modern for me

Both FJ's are destined to be sold if you are interested. I would post a couple more photos but they are on my PC which popped its motherboard this evening and this laptop refuses to speak to my camera. It happily talks to the cheap Chinese 7mm boroscope camera I bought on Ebay but not my old Fuji Finepix and they used to be the bestest of friends.
