Is it my clutch plates? TS 125 1987 clutch slipping

Hi, my MZ TS 125 is now running but the clutch appears to be slipping even though the adjustments on the cable and lever have been made - would the best option be to replace the clutch plates or is there something I could try first ?

Steady on there. we don't want people throwing money around willy nilly. When you get your clutch apart you want to measure the thickness of the friction plates. Anything over 3.1mm is fine. The springs should be 49mm long. Quite possible its just the plates that are glazed. Rub the plain plates with some wet and dry. Soak the friction plates in petrol for a couple of hours ( or overnight) giving an occasional scrub with a tooth brush. Allow to dry then give a light rub over with some coarse wet and dry ( not to much , you don't want to remove too much material. Reassemble , new oil and see how you go.

Oh and make sure your clutch cable is well lubricated, and routed so as to move freely

Thank you so much for the fantastic advice..... all went to plan and yes the clutch is fully operational again - all the measurements were well in spec, but the plates etc were very dirty, plus the bike had stood for many years.
So I am most grateful for the help and the cost saving too - wonderful...... cheers Jacquesvins
