RT and SM/X interchangeable parts?

Postby kdesilva » Thu Oct 04, 2012 8:33 am

Hi there,

I've got the SM which is in fine working order, but I've got the chance to buy a non working RT, very cheaply, just for parts.

Does anyone know if there are any parts the RT has that can be used for the SM, that I can keep just in case something happens to the other bike?

body work is different frame may be different
rest is about the same
it all makes good trading stock for your spares bin

and if your in need of a part the supply department is very close

i think they sold a lot of these in your country

Wheels are not interchangeable; I've tried. RT has shorter length in the speedo cable. Of course the radiator is one piece. the SM tank and seat will fit on an RT; haven't tried the other way.

From--- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MZ_Motorra ... weiradwerk
MZ manufactured a line of 125 cc four-stroke motorcycles using an engine that was designed in-house. The MZ 125 produces 15 bhp (11 kW) and nearly 10 lb·ft (14 N·m) of torque. It is a liquid-cooled, dual-overhead-cam design with four valves, high-voltage electronic ignition and an 11,000 rpm ignition cut-off. This engine was used in four models, all of which share a common frame. The frame is a tube-steel backbone with the engine as a stressed bottom member. Differences in the suspension, fascia, gearing, and equipment make the four models relatively distinct, despite the shared platform. All four bikes feature a six-speed transmission and dual disc brakes.

Quoted for the "all of which share a common frame." Of course the FunX and SX models have no mounts for passenger footpegs.

Sorry for the thread resurrection - will a 125 SX bottom yoke fit a 125 RT?
