NEW HERE :-)

Postby Noodles36 » Mon May 12, 2014 5:01 am

Hello to one and all .
Im new to the form ,

Just bought a 1981 MZ250TS Supa Fire With a side car 47k on the clock " I was told big miles mean nothing to a MZ " . " Its a restoration project " I was told / promised by the last owner that the bike was running and driving last year but has been laid up and not driving since . All part of the fun " try to get it going again :-) . If any one can send me links to dealers where I can pick up spear parts for the MZ that would be the bizz . Im going to need a full exhaust to start with :-) " that's my father and his mad dog in the photo :-)

Hi there Noodles. That's a fine looking machine you have got there> The superlastik sidecars are wonderful things and yours even seems to have the hydraulic sidecar brake still there ( whether it will work is another matter!). And a previous owner has bunged a TLS brake on the front so it might have a chance of stopping.

Right for parts you can try

www.mzsimson.de Guesi is a regular on these boards so he will probably pop up soon!
www.ost2rad.com (which seems to be down at the moment but there German site http://www.ost2rad.de is running OK)
www.themzshop.co.uk are good lads too!

Welcome to the madhouse... you know you can never leave don't you!

And send my love to Ireland... used to rally there a lot 10 or more years ago, love the place

Many thanks for your reply/help therealche , Ive refurbed and restored a few bikes over the years , but always fancied a MZ . the funny thing is ive searched for years and could never find one or if I did find one it was silly money " as in far to expensive " the above bike I stumbled across and got it for little or nothing . I got her for €690 that's about £560 sterling ,

The chap I bought the bike from " bought the bike for him self last year " July 13 " He spent over €300 on getting it up and running/driving and parked it up and its set there till I took it . there 3 pre owners on the bike " Im the 4th " even comes with the original owners manual and had book .

Im really looking forward to getting started on her " Gonna a call her BIG BERTA :-) " Im thorn between restoring her to the original stock look " as she left the factory " OR what I was thinking was transforming her into the Russian Army Style bike , Not to sure yet but time will tell .

Many thanks for the links therealche " I will need them "

therealche when are you coming back over to Ireland " theres more than enough of the black stuff "Guinness" to go around :-D

stay safe ..

That's a real bargain, you'll make us all jealous! If it's only been laid up a short while you shouldn't have much trouble getting it up and running. I wouldn't do anything not reversible to it, it's far too complete. Always liked the little bracket they cast to carry two indicators on the sidecar mudguard.

Yeah I need to get back across and visit again, but can't see it being soon so have a pint of the black stuff for me! ( Unless you are more of a large bottle of Bulmers man like my Irish "brother"!)

English born and bred... and my brother is Irish born and bred!

OK what happened was I met Donnchadh at a rally many moons ago and we hit it off immediately. So much so by the end of the rally he had convinced everyone I was his long lost brother, who had been sent to England when very young because of some unspecified trouble, which was why I had an Essex accent! I was coming across to rallies around 10 times a year and soon everyone was convinced we were brothers, they could even see the family resemblance!

The madman even came to visit me in Bradford just to go for some beers on a Saturday night. Arrived at my place around 6.30 Saturday night, quick change, out for a night on the beer, entertaining the assembled crowd as always, then for a late night curry, Up at 8am back on the bike and back home for a Bulmers or three on the Sunday night.

Ah to be young, free and solvent!
