Any good leads or advice for a Saxon Tour regarding saddlebags or luggage set up?

i am working on design for mount frame for mine
work in progress for this winter
look here for what i am using ..at this time on 2 of my 3 bikes
nice because you can take them into the office

I think for your needs you might have to fabricate or create your own saddlebags. I wouldn't recommend any throwovers, but definitely think about creating the proper mounts.
If anything, I'd recommend http://www.vikingbags.com and see what they might have to offer. Throwovers scratch the back and also aren't the most secure method of mounting.

The bags I recommended do not need a mount frame and a couple strong bungee cords attach them well ..
and they hold a bunch of stuff.. and mine had rain covers

If you have plenty of $$, Hepco Becker still has a complete rack and hard bag setup listed in their catalog. Better part of $900 for everything though.

For my Silver Star, I'm thinking about mounting up a pair of Plano Molding Rigid Equipment Cases ($36 ea.) or something similar. I'll have to make my own brackets, but that's no biggie.

In anticipation of my annual Memorial Day trip deep into West Virginia, I made up some mounting brackets for the Plano cases. Mounted everything up last evening and have to say it looks pretty good and should work well. This is V1.0, V2.0 will be brackets that will stay attached to the bags, leaving nothing on the bike except some mounting "spools".

but side loaders
so put a strap around them so they do not dump your stuff

stuff turns nasty when ran over by several cars
and after 60 years on bikes i do not like side load bags
cause they always dump your stuff

Didn't have a strap around them all weekend - 1000 kms. Fully loaded to the point they were bulging slightly. Some of the roughest backroads you can imagine. Stayed shut, no problem!
