Looked at this:

To change the fork seals on my 1996 silver star.
Turns out there is no second spring or washer but more importantly there is no clip to hold the seal in and no groove for it fit into ..!!! i assume this is normal ... Just seems odd...

None needed. The seal is a snug enough fit. At least the seals for a Moto Guzzi I used were.
