Had a rush of blood to the head and decided to go back to Honda's but the agony of my Skorpion being listed on ebay for a week was yuck to put it mildly so I took it off and boy am I glad I did. I fitted the Scott oiler I had for it and went on a 150 mile run over the mountains on the mainland and it was simply great. The new HH pads have improved the front no end and the changed gearing 15/43 gives me a sweet spot from 50-70 in top, just the deal :D One happy bunny now! Just got to sort my wavy tachometer and all is hunky dory :lol:

Stick a nice picture over the tacho... just rev it till it feels time to change!
Glad to see you've stayed in the fold...now all you need is a nice 2-stroke as a lightweight alternative

Yes, I am glad I kept it.....A two stroke single in fine fettle would be a very lovely thing :!: Now there's a thought :lol:

I must agree. Sometimes I get a bit anal about RPM to the point I look at that MORE than the speedo.... I really should just cover it..

My CX500's Tacho cable broke whilst on the way back from Bosnia.. I've yet to get the chance to replace it (radiator/fan out jobbie) and to be honest, I'm not really sure I miss it!

over here used cx500's are rare they have all been RUN so many miles there not worth rebuilding or using for spares

good bike in its day but a pain to work in the motor

if you have one that runs good DO change the oil and filter OFTEN there bad about loosing the crank

The very same in this country David. Only prestine models left, anything with 50k> is a rarity, which is probably because they have been run in the ground. I have a spare BRAND NEW engine that I put 5k on last year (in the space of 2 weeks actually...) so that is nicely bed in after

I've done 20k miles on my original motor which I've yet to re-assemble, and in that time one of the big ends collapsed, (crank had to be replaced..), new piston rings (twice!! One set didn't seal!), mechanical water seal common fault. The rocker/heads are no longer the originals and the gearbox has been swapped. BUT I do like it. However it is still using (so far as I can tell) the original stator which is quite uncommon actually. Carbs must have a fair bit of wear on them now. And I did spend £120 for someone to weld up a total of 10 large holes in the frame and swingarm!

I do the oil every 5k miles with filter. Mainly used 20w50 in it because it's £30 for four gallons (uk gallons..), 18litres. I also change the beval box oil every 5k and try my best to keep it going. It's such a large and heavy bike it is nice to put it away for a few months and just have a nice and light MZ.
