gear lever availibility

So far so good, 300+ miles 200+ shifts and still working. I switched out the 2 nuts and lock washers for ss nylon lockers yesterday. Still researching a replacement shifter. Our local motorcycle salvage yard closed after over 40years in business so it's going to be more difficult to do when you can't physically examine other bikes shifters . I've contacted several shifter makers for specs, but they havn't responded.

had mine welded and braced but that snapped again a year or so later so machined up a new rear part of the lever and bolted the front haf of the mz one to it,will try and put a pic up of it later
whoops just read all the posts and see i have already posted the above pic,will make an effort with the updated version

Fingers crossed sorry for crap pic not used bike in months,had a lump of ally lying around and shaped to replace rear of old lever then bolted the front half of lever to ally,cable tie was for positioning it,never got round to cutting it off

That fix looks strong. I was thinking the exact same design. I lost the last 90% of the shifter so I have to fab the toe piece. One of problems with the stock shifter is the frame bolt sleeve needs to be longer and a bearing.

rodge, do you ever get over the other side of the bridge.. i thinking of going to cmc superbikes on sunday there a stunt show there. if you fancied coming over weather permitting...

sure if you need it, I paid £30 for it two years ago, saw it as a spare too good to miss up but if you need it because yours is broken then yes,

Hi Al,not very often,been to abergavenny a few times, as for this weekend busy welding mates frame and making up sprockets and stuff for mower as 12 hour race is looming on the horizon a bit to quickly

Ok I went a different direction and pulled the linkage and stock shift lever. I went direct to the transmission with this

I chose the 2001 yamaha YZ250

So far it works like a charm...I'm ordering a spare.

This is my own photo.

The shift pattern is the same . The main difference is there's weight hanging on the transmission spline ( not much level is super light) You also have the possibility of damaging the spline if you jump on the lever or crash. The tip folds up on this lever making it safer. If you ride a dirt bike this feels exactly like that and looks much cleaner. Many raptor riders switch direct levers and I didn't find anything that stopped me from making the switch.
