Hi,

Got my first MZ recently, a 1993 Saxon 301 Tour!
A proper 'barn find', with 15,000 km's on the clock, it was in top condition, last used/tested in 2013, and retested in August 2017 by the seller, who gave it a good going over, including new tyres, battery, fresh fluids ect.
This is a revelation of a bike for me, as the only 2T I've ridden before was a Honda MTX 125, in 1992 to pass my test.
Everything works as it should and it starts/stops/rides amazingly well. Smiles per mile factor is impressive!!
I cant believe how quick it is compared to my last bike, an Indian 350/500 Bullet, which I sold in April this year, after an 8 year 'affair'!
I gave it the once over myself and everything looks good and fairly easy to tinker with. This is a highly original bike.
I found it on eBay, down Newton Abbot, Devon way, and paid £850 for it in August 2017 and had it transported to Kent for £100. £41 tax for a year and on my classic insurance policy, with my XS650.
Probably, the best £950 I've ever spent!
It's a bright blue bike with a square headlight, and I look forward to meeting up with some of the local Kent Riders Club members, who actually meet up once a month just down the road from me!

Happy Days :D :-D :)
Regards
Alan

Hi, And welcome, great fun bikes, I have a Saxon Tour 301 and a TS250/1 and as you say they are faster than you would expect, some of that is probably due to the fairly light weight. As you said you are not use to TS's one thing I will mention to you is as the bike has been standing for a time there is a possibility that the main crankshaft seals could have hardened giving you excess smoke difficult to start etc, not a big deal to replace and as you mentioned the local MZ guys are just down the road so you will be ok with them. Wish you well with your 301, take care Alan.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I am near you {Meopham) and recently discovered MZ POWER. What a surprise after riding Villiers powered strokers for years but with the extra go I find petrol consumption heavier when I blast it around a bit. I will try to attach a piccy of my beast. ts250/1.

Thanks for the friendly MZ welcome.
It will be interesting to see and hear reactions, if any, when I start to get out and about on this one.
A bike with character for sure! :-D :smt006

Nice pics. Good memories of seeing these in the 80's/90's whilst working in the courier game in London.
If I actually see another one around Kent, I'll make an announcement here lol! :) :smt006

Visited a pal in Reading today, to show him the Saxon, and parked up in Broad Street, opposite the Alehouse. We sat inside the pub and watched every other person stop and have a good look at the bike. Certainly provokes a reaction. And I think the good people of Reading were very understanding of my leaving a blue haze on departure! :smt005 :smt006
