Hi All ,

I have recently taken my bike to my mechanic and he has advised I need to replace a few items as there is a loud noise coming from my engine.

he has said it needs the following.

Cam Chain
Tensioner
full gasket set or at least the head and rocker.

I'm wondering if anyone can help please as I am finding it really difficulty to find these parts

Yes, if the cam chain in an OHC engine is worn beyond the adjustment range of the tensioner, it can get loud. And you'll loose power, as the valve timing will be off. Then the chain needs to be replaced.

The chain tensioners that I know hardly wear, and normally don't need replacing, but I have no experience with any MZ 4-stroke. Might be different.

You'll need to replace any gasket that is destroyed in the repair, no more. Often the rocker cover is sealed with a shaped 'O'-ring, which can be re-used. Only if the cylinder head is cracked or warped it needs to be replaced, but that is quite uncommon (and very costly). The manual will give specifications for the rockers, but those too normally last quite long.

I have a 2007 - MZ SM 125

Looks like your SM 125 has the same engine as the modern RT 125. Have a look on eBay, where you will also find gaskets, or complete kits. If you can't find it in English, try German (Steuerkette).
