Edit: this thread caused me to have a look at the idling of my ETZ251, which has a BVF 30 N 3-1. By closing the bypass a little further it does idle slower, and it can idle at around the 850 RPM you mention, in a stable fashion (doesn't miss a beat). But I don't really like it, the pick-up on the throttle is then sluggish, and most importantly: the entire engine vibrates up & down in the rubber. So that must load/bend the exhaust. I went back to about 1500 RPM.
