returned form vacation...

Postby phlat65 » Sun Aug 14, 2005 9:18 pm

well, just returned from 10 days vacation, man did I have fun.
the first 4 days were spent traveling through BC, 2 days on Vancouver Island on my 1964 Honda dream 305, and I borrowed a 1969 BMW R bike with a /5 engine for my brother in-law.
the last week, I was with the family on Orcas Island WA, managed to sneak the MZ up, put almost 450 miles on it flogging very good twisties, did not see a cop the whole week!!

I will post up a more detailed report in a few days with some pics!!

It sucks to have to back to work tomorrow....

I still can't believe how much fun I had. traveling on old bikes is a sure good time! did not have to get the tools out at all.

I agree, that R60/2/5 is one of the most enguyable bikes to ride. very smooth, good handeling, goes like stink too!!

here is my favorite road sign to date:

and the view from the cabin :D

Cool 8)
The bike looks quite well loaded, did you go for the bulky-but-light packing with anything heavy in the panniers ?
Reason I'm asking is I'm moving in a few months up to Cumbria (UK) so touring the Lake District by bike looks like being a good holiday to me.

Cheers, Mike

camped very light, tent, sleeping bag, wish I had a pad though. 3 days clothing, tool kit, rain jacket, small camping stove (thanks david!) , mess kit, maps, camera, water, flashlight, and a Mexican blanket.

tried to keep all the heavy stuff in the saddle bags, and strapped stuff behind me to make a back rest. highly recomed the back rest. ate at resturaunts, and picked up beer before the camp site. (the cooler/tail trunk is functional)

traveling by classic motorcycle is the most fun I have had i a LOOOONG time.

Thanks for letting us know that.

I have just spent my two weeks vacation tiling my kitchen. I haven't been out on tyhe bike once, and the weather this last week has been fantastic.

I deserve a good holiday next year on the back of this-but will it be the States or New Zeland?
