ETZ250 BING Carb conversion.

I've noticed "Bing" type carbs are available at modest cost nowadays. My Saxon 301 has one as standard but not the ETZ 250. Does the 250 run better, or maybe it is more economic in fuel consumption etc with this conversion? Supposedly on the overrun, the rough firing jerkiness is reduced? Maybe there is some power increase?
Just interested to know.

I have no experience with "Bing" type carbs on the MZ; I tried a Keihin reproduction, see another thread.

Bing is a German manufacturer of a.o. carbs (https://www.bingpower.de/en/). If it's cheap, it's probably not made by Bing, but rather a reproduction. A reproduction is not necessarily poor quality though.

If you can spare the time & money, I'd say buy one & give it a try. Or just swap the carbs that you have & see what effect that has?

Hi Puffs many thanks for your reply. Yes as far as I can tell they are not made by Bing BUT they may be of similar quality as they are quite simple. I have now ordered one and as said, I can compare this to the genuine one I have a one on the Saxon Tour..
Perhaps this was a waste of money ( I am ALWAYS wasting money ) but it gives me some short term pleasure just buying something which seems a bargain. Hopefully when jetted correctly there will be some improvement? Who knows....Les

Sorry. Only used the BVF's on my 251 and 250.

The 30n2.5 on the 250/300cc is lovely and smooth- I think it's great.

The 30n3 on the 251 is sligtly different designed than it's precursors. More like a car carb with a bypassair screw, instead of a slide stop screw.


I don't get much over-run firing, i think this is also an indication of ignition timing/condition and not always to be blamed on the carb. I personally don't see why people get so hung up with it- it's a classic topic of debate with the mz's.. It's just a characteristic of the bikes- and I don't think about it at all.

Thanks for your views Blurredman, If I ever get the bike finished, I'll fit the original carb and try the Bing at some later time.
