Acerbis handguards fit... barely

Postby Drew » Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:54 pm

I bought some Acerbis handguards for the 125SM. They fit well, with great clearances. However, because of the anti-vibration damper inside the handlebar, they must stick out 1" on each side (this also helps the levers clear the guards).

I got mine at a local Cycle Gear so I could easily return them if they didn't fit. If I had to do it again, I'd get it from Motostrano:

Cycle Gear only had them in blue, but I had a can of black paint (which solved the issue of what to do about the Acerbis logo!). I'll post pics once the paint has dried and the handguards are reinstalled...

The painting is not going as nice as planned :smt013 I was hoping for a nice reflective gloss, but it's coming out more "Ducati dark" black (matte black). Meh! Waddya gonna do!

It's going to rain on Sunday (first time since June), so I'll get to see how those bad boys work!

Got them on (need to still take a pic). I replaced the handlebar to deal with the issue with the anti-vibration damper. After installing the handguards, I moved the clutch lever and brake lever inwards about an inch each.

The new handlebar is anodized black, btw. Very nice looking!
