just had my rims powder coated and stainless spokes fitted. . .
Learnt a lot doing this. .
firstly to take out half the spokes on one side then the other, then back to the first side and so on, other wise you can twist the rims (oops, bit too handy with the angle grinder
)
got the rims coated at a local coaters who does all sorts, did a good job but coated the inside too and the wheel builder told me the spoke nipples will settle in the coating over time and will need tightening. . .
got the hubs coated too, I remembered to tell the coater which faces are bearing faces cos the blasting is a bit viscous !
looks good built up but the coating seems a bit thick to me and we had to drill out the spoke holes after coating to get the nipples thro' so weather protection is compromised
my local MZ dealer laced the rims up for me using hagon stainless spokes
fairly pleased with the overall result
(apparantly the new MZ's come with anodised rims now)
two wheels good, four wheels bad. . . .
