Well, it's a sidecar outfit, and yes, that's the engine I would love to have.

But IMO another good example of where the appendix ruins what is otherwise a very nice bike!

KTM also used that engine (before they made their own).

APPENDIX meaning -
1.A tube-shaped sac attached to and opening into the lower end of the large intestine in humans and some other mammals.
2.A section or table of subsidiary matter at the end of a book or document.

APPENDAGE meaning
1.A thing that is added or attached to something larger or more important.

Re: Nice bike with an appendix!

Postby Puffs » Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:21 am

Appendix: exactly. That is what it is, that thing on the RH side of the bike. From the Latin appendere "cause to hang (from something)".

appendix, appendicis, f:
In English: supplement, addition
Auf deutsch: Anhang (m), Zugabe (f)
En Français: supplément, appendice

To each his own, but in my mind: what a nice bike it would be, without that appendix!

Ha ha!
I still think appendage would be more appropriate the way you view sidecars!
Don`t knock them until you have tried them.

True, I never did.

Never tried running into a bus either.

Indeed, compared to that, riding with a sidecar seems appealing, so who knows! Pigs can fly!

i have a light fiberglass sidecar i have found it is useful around town
but over the road use is known to destroy good engines in a hurry

the big triumph engine would work good to pull one
but there are no mounts on the frame

I was conceived when my parents were touring Europe on their Triumph outfit (or combination if you wish) and when i was `late arriving` nine months(plus) later dad took mother out for a high speed spin in the Vincent outfit, which had the desired effect of staring labour! You could say i have sidecars in my genes!

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.
