more rotax notes

Postby DAVID THOMPSON » Sat Sep 08, 2007 12:35 pm

a note to do regular checks include the ground wire from battery to engine
and check the brown wire from battery to coil ....if the big wire is loose or bad ground it will burn the brown wire up trying to carry the load of the starter

also before a trip check to see that spark plug is tight in its hole
i have had mine come loose twice on long trips

I did check the wire under the little shield and it was loose and full of grit. I think the last time this bike was ridden was through a sand storm.

solder a second wire tab to the original at ground and extend it out to the starter
and ground it in both places
you will know you have bad luck if it gets loose wire in both places at the same time
and check small brown wire to see if its been hot
