I have just bought one on ebay. You may have been one of the eighty+ watchers!

The current owner has been running it on 30:1.

My other MZ, an ETZ 250, runs happily on 50:1, although it's more like 45:1 in reality as I do err on the generous side.

What do you think ?

I think 50:1 is plenty with a good quality oil.

Just a Ts125 with extra 23cc (like your average hedge trimmer) so as a rule, use 2t filling cap (on tank just over the marking) measurement if driving it hard or with a heavy payload. And carry a spare sparkplug. Keep the cylinder fins clean.

the 1978 TS had a needle bearing on the top end of the conrod.

These bikes had an oil ratio of 1: 50.

The old bikes like the ES 150 had a bronze bush, these bikes needed 1: 33.

Ta Dave, I'm not contesting that the thing has a needle bearing, I don't know, never worked on it. Note the OP's is '78.

I get the impression that MZ produced all the literature for a model when it was first introduced, and rarely updated it later when the model changed.

I’m just in the process of starting another restoration on a ‘78 TS150. Plenty of fun to have!
