TS 250/1 speedo wanted

Postby jam23a30 » Sun Jun 20, 2021 10:38 am

Anyone out there who could help me get hold of a working speedo suitable for a super 5 and marked in KPH please. I'm also on the hunt for a headlight glass which dips to the right, I have a post Pandemic European trip in mind and would like to be able to set my bike up correctly.

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

Hi,

That sounds like expensive modifications if doing properly.

As puffs has said, it seems there is a gearing issue with the clocks, and not just a counter change will work.??

Even if 70 at 12 o' clock on a kph is pretty much the same as 40 at 12 o' clock on a mph clock.. Not sure how it works fully- as not tried, only Puffs has to my knowledge - and it didn't seem to work for him.

Chepeast way would be to put selotape on the lens- lenses themselves would be expensive.

All this aside though, the countless times I've been abroad i've never changed anything on the car or bike (inc MZ) but put a gb sticker on the back... I never thought i'd say this, but mentally converting kph to mph was quick and easy after no time at all. 50kph>30mph, 70kph>40mph, 90kph>50mph. Give or take a few mph, of course the gauges could be off a little anyway.

Where do you plan on going?

1979 Suzuki TS185ER - 9,000 miles
1981 Honda CX500B - 91,000 miles
1987 MZ ETZ300 - 38,000 miles
1989 MZ ETZ251 - 50,000 miles

electric GPS boat speedometers work great
we use them in the king midget car i own
and cars where the original speedometer is sick

most can be set to your km or mph choice
most read to 60 mph a few to 80 mph
and powered with a battery pack
i use the battery from a Ryobi 12volt drill

All Ts engines revolve at the same rate no matter what market they end up in. So use your rev counter as a speedo (suitably Marked, contact a rider with a Km type Ts speedo) or other motorists, a picket fence, outside lighting poles. Or just guess. Maybe measure potholes per Kilometer :-D Sorry, if this is as much use as a chocolate frying pan, I applogise profoundly.
