125SM - Idling Issues

My 125SM just recently started having some trouble idling. Not sure why. I was out riding this past Sunday with my youngest daughter, and it was running great. But when I can up to a stop sign it stalled. Started it back up easy enough, but it acted like the idle was just set too low. We rode home a bit later, pulled into my driveway, and it stalled again. So, I played with (what I think is) the idle adjustment. I turn it clockwise a little bit and that seemed to do the trick as it idled fine after that. Today, it's doing it again. I played with this carb screw again, but it doesn't seem to be having much affect. Is this the idle adjustment on the lefthand side of the carb or am I screwing with something entirely different?

The bike itself is still running like a champ and I'm not having any performance issues.

yup,that's the one...
if it continues to stall...you can try servicing the carb...small carb...even teeny tiny dirt can cause some problem...

just my 2 cent...

this happened with my RT and it turned out to be that the choke plunger in the carb was corroded and was sticking on so. This wasn't evident from the throttle grip but when we took the carb apart that was the prob.

might want to check it.

also just to preface my comment, when the choke sticking thing happened the bike was fairly new...

Today i went and change my brake pads to FERODO... it seems like the brake pads for the back it sucks...... let me try and run in first... the front is superb....

Hey all,

I found myself extremely lucky today. I went shopping, and when I returned to my bike there was a quarter-litre of gas by the kickstand! The float-bowl overflow line was steadily dripping out fuel. Riding home involved messing with the fuel cock from off to on, just enough to get gas to the carb.

Two things:
1) The manual is right, the stamping is wrong. The stamped lettering on my fuel cock is incorrect, so I had been leaving my bike in reserve while parked.

2) I know it was mentioned before, but the carburator idle-set screw was the culprit. When I got home, I noticed a screw on the ground. Since I have to ride up on a curb to park the bike, I figured the hop was enough to "set it free". Time to loctite that one! I'll safety-wire it while I'm at it...

The idle set-screw was backing out the whole time. Well, time to wrench!

Mileage = ~1800 km.
Relax. You'll live longer.

your not the first with this ....your just lucky most people find
the needle stuck in there flat tire
