Hi,
after occasionally visiting this forum in the past I now have registered after all.

I'm an 46 years old male, living 30 km east of Frankfurt.

I own - beside a small Honda CB1 - a Baghira 660 with now 25,000 miles.

I bought it new in August 1999 as I seeked after a reliable offroad bike for my Libya-trip.

My Baghi is more or less original with some minor modifications:

- Fork protectors from ACERBIS
- Radiator protectors from KTM
- Changed transmission ratio (three teeth more at the sprocket wheel)
- Carburator set from TUNEBIKE
- Higher handle bar (noname product)
- Handprotectors
- Aluminium Engine protector
- Fuel fine filter inside carburator removed
- Additional fuel fine filter between tank and carburator
- 30 - litre GRP-tank (7,9 Gal.) - only installed for desert trips
- Spokes in rear wheel exchanged by stronger ones
(no problems with brocken spokes ever since)
- Pirelli MT 21 tyres
- Manual operated roadbook
- additional digital bicycle speedometer

I burried my XT600 once in mud up to the cases, had to drag it out with a truck...

how about a few stories of your travels :-D

who makes/sells the large tank?

The tank had been built by the German supplier Touratec, later from African Queens, a specialist for the Honda African Twin.

The main disadvantage of this fuel container is the material: GRP

It is quite heavy and it will become leak as fuel seeps between the GRP layers. That's why my tank at the moment is parked in my garage. :(

Nevertheless, the handling of the Baghi is rather good - even with the full tank and the bike looks "like original".

Due to this problems, production is run out and you can buy it only used (but it is quite rare and you must have good luck to catch one).

For my tank I've got a repair kit (originally used as internal leakage protection layer for airplane fuel tanks).


By the way - the pictures are made in the Tunisian desert, the northern part of the sahara. It was hard work to dig the bike out.....

The radiator protectors -- for the 640? Which model? The Adventure? ...and they are from...?

The engine protector / bash plate -- is that from Touratech ?

I will - as usual - put a fuel filter. But the one in the carb? Did you take it out because it's not easy to get to, or....?
