phew, what a job these bearings have been, I have never known bearings so tight in the hubs. I had problems with fitting them as they kept jamming and needing far more force with a lump hammer that I was prepared to use and experimenting with the shim washer placement ended up causing the inner races locking up and not turning.
I had to un spoke the hub and use a press to fit the bearings after making special bearing tools on the milling machine because my old lathe faces a bit convex ( being sorted as we speak) and made sure both outer and inner races of the bearing contacted the tool by using engineering blue. I then successfully pressed them in.
I made a bolt to go through the wheel and bolted it up tight against the inner races to check if the bearings became stiff or locked up all together. All was well I am glad to say.

Hi folks. Can I ask if anyone knows the order of assembly for my TS 250/1 filter box. It has been years since I removed the filter and am uncertain how the order of bits go back together.
I have glued the new round sponge into the filter box where it connects to the frame ( is it correct ) but I also have another sponge in with the new filter bits I bought.
Above the long stud on the far left is a steel pressing that looks like one of these sponges fits onto it, but I do not know where it goes.
I also have two springs, one new small one and a bigger one I had in with the bits. Help

Hi Folks. I wonder if anyone can tell me what the little electrical component that lives inside the filter housing is. I did hope to have a picture for you but I've lost it for the moment, it is a little rectangle with a yellow wire soldered at each end and you can only see it if you separate the two piece filter housing.
I would be very grateful for it purpose.

Hi Mick, there are no electrical components inside the filter housing. Whatever it is must have been put there by a previous owner.

Sorry about the delay folks.
Here is the component in place and it has blue over spray paint from the factory on it, so it looks original to me. Its academic though as it does not seem to have been used. Strange. Thanks for your replies

It's a resistor. "Power wirewound resistor", to give its full description.
Haven't a clue what it's doing there........

Thanks for the info, I think I will just solder a new wire on the end it fell off from and then close the housing so I can fit it together.

The resistor needs series connection i.e. to both ends if it is to function.

How many unused holes have been made in the filter housing ? It may be a good idea to close those - securely.
Personally, I'd be very wary of any kind of threaded fasteners inside an airbox ; if they unscrew or detach you could end up with costly engine damage.

The only holes not used for threaded fasteners from one side or the other are the two just to the right of the resistor inside the cover. I agree that the bolts coming loose would cause bad damage to the engine, and the wires from the resistor are just 4 inch lengths of yellow wire, one of which has fallen off.
The screws for the resistor have small nuts on the rear that were heavily painted over and I think I will loctite those and do the same with threaded bolts to block the spare holes to stop unfiltered air bypassing the filter. Strange if this is from the factory.
