My first MZ bike

Postby Sourcer » Wed May 03, 2006 5:48 pm

I purchased a Mastiff for several days ago from a dealer in Germany. Now I feel like I've been reborn. :D

The picture is from the shop in Hamburg.

Thanks Dave!

The dealer told me to change the oil before I use the bike, so I may ask later if I need some advice.

Congratulation! :-) Have a lot of fun with your red "Dog". If you speak german have a look at http://www.mz-baghira.de .... it's the best website for Baghira/Mastiff-owner in the www with an excellent forum.

You'll love it. So easy to maintain (when you actually have to do something), and a bike that must have one of the highest satisfaction ratings around. Never heard of an unhappy owner-and they do exactly what you expect them too, then maybe more. Read of my trip to Corsica to see how it went compared to more exotic, and Orange, fare.

Enjoy!

Thanks Scheffi!

I can read German and briefly understand what they wrote, but I don't think that I'm ready to ask questions in German.

I took a ride today for the first time since i get back from Germany. The engine is pretty strong low to high rpm. I think the two carburettors eliminates the traditional compromise between low-end torque and high-rpm horsepower, giving the engine the response of a larger-displacement engine. It seems that the two carburettors are designed to react to different stimuli the engine will tolerate sudden changes of throtttle position without jerking or falling off the power curve.

@whysub01

You are right, I already love this bike. On tighter twisties it'll make some supposedly sportier machinery look silly by going deep round the outside and cutting in at the last moment, under perfect control.

During the first test run, I found out that the bike never becomes unstable it always feels unsettled. I soon found that its best cruising speed was just over 130km/h, with the motor at its smoothest and the handlebars dead steady.
